At Barrio Boxing, our main mission is to empower girls and women while creating a positive ripple effect within their families. We're all about closing the gender gap. Through this project, we tackle multiple areas including school education, addressing menstruation challenges, and promoting mental and physical health. We break down stereotypes and fight against gender-based violence. By arming our participants with the tools they need, we're giving them the power to take control of their own lives.
Our boxing coaches empower participants to define their own boundaries, fostering self-discovery. Through social and emotional skills training, we nurture a safe space for girls and women to freely express their thoughts and emotions, healing from past traumas. This holistic approach fosters gender equality in Colombia, promoting self-confidence in both body and mind, and letting them know they are heard and valued.
This program creates jobs for the people inside the neighborhood so they can financially support themselves and their families. For example, both of our boxing teachers come out of the neighborhood – from the neighborhood, for the neighborhood.
